Distribution and present state of Marmota bobak settlements in Nizhny Novgorod region [Distribution et état actuel des colonies de Marmota Bobak dans la région de Nijni-Novgorod].

Résumé
The steppe marmot (Marmota bobak Mull.) had been released in Nyzhny Novgorod region during 1083-1084. The newly formed settlements of marmot in Nyzhny Novgorod region are the extreme northwest outpost of the species in Volga region. Marmots have populated most of suitable habitats near place of release and active settling new places. At present time they live in 5 southeast districts in the region – Krasnooktyabrsky, Segarchsky, Gaginsky, Bolsheboldinsky, Sechenovsky. This article deals with estimation of present state of marmot settlements and analysis of main factors defining appearance and well-being new marmot colonies. Considered such factors as a cattle grazing, predators pressure and the some climatic conditionals.
