Biodiversity conservation in Central Asia: An Analysis of Biodiversity and Current Threats and Initial Investment Portfolio [Conservation de la biodiversité en Asie centrale: une analyse de la biodiversité et des menaces actuelles et l'investissement initial du portefeuille].

Résumé

The project “Biodiversity Conservation in Central Asia: An Analysis of Biodiversity and Current Threats and Initial Investment Portfolio” was developed and completed by the World Wild Fund For Nature (WWF) with the financial support of The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation (US). The final report on the project consists of a review of the current status of biodiversity conservation in the republics of Central Asia, formerly a part of the Soviet Union - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. An investment portfolio, consisting of programs and projects in biodiversity conservation, is included. More than 300 specialists took part in the preparation of this document; more than 400 projects were proposed. About 93 projects are included into the final document, which are directed toward resolving the most urgent problems of biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources of the region.
