Résumé
The excretion of 17-keto steroids, 17-hydroxy steroids and total urinary estrogens of the woodchuck (Marmota monax) were measured for a period of l year. 2- The results of the analyses were compared to the overall activity of the animal and to the metabolism of lipid and protein. 3- It is thought that the androgenic, glucocorticoid and estrogenic hormones are involved in the mechanism for arousal. 4- The urinary epinephrine, norepinephrine and vanilmandelic acid excretion rates were followed in the woodchuck (M. monax) for a period of l year. 5- The lowest values were recorded in the early phases of hibernation with increasea occurring just prior to arousal and on into the summer months. 6- It is thought that the levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine assist in the preparation of the woodchuck for arousal.
